Tighmanshu Dhulia is back with a sequel to his own critically acclaimed thriller Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster to provide us with some more actions and masala dialogues. This time he also tried handling the music department well but has he succeeded in doing that with Sandeep Chowta? Let’s find out!
Music: Sandeep Chowta
1.Jugni – Singers: Jazzy Bains; Lyrics: Madok, Juggi Singh
Bollywood has decided not to get rid of this Jugni thing and continuously encouraging composers and lyricists to make as many versions as they can. So here’s another Jugni for you. The song starts with a free sample tune which is often used in Punjabi songs. The famous Punjabi singer Jazzy B has mixed up all the ingredients with his vocals that most of the fast Jugni songs want. The beats and instruments used are louder than needed and it surely exhausts us after few listenings. It is made to be played in shaadis but we definitely don’t want our guests to get irritated. This Jugni sounds too stale or it could be a fact that after Arif Lohar’s version, we are not able to like any other.
2.Idhar Gire – Singer: Sowmya Rao; Lyrics: Sandeep Nath
A mellow-dramatic song with an indefinite retro tune and an indespendable singing by Sowmya makes it a worth one-time listen. It is made up of the mixtures of the patterns of some of Helen’s songs and has given the touch of “Kaisi Paheli” (Parineeta) or “Chain Aapko Mila” (Hungama) but it’s a song which is quite bearable for the ears. Atleast you should attempt it once.
3.Media Se – Singer: Paroma Das Gupta; Lyrics: Sandeep Nath
Sandeep chowta has tried maintaining the level of the music according to the film’s theme. He is quite successful in that. It certainly looks like a typical Khatiya song made in Govinda-era. I am sure it would merge well with the film. Sandeep Nath’s quirky lyrics “balma band kamre mein raajneeti kare” adds life to this song.
4.Bas Chal Kapat – Singer: Piyush Mishra; Lyrics: Sandeep Nath
The composition is a staid and no nice instruemnts are involved. The composer has tried giving flavor of some of the old aggressive songs of some action films but he surely failed and his composition too. Lyrics make some hope but no good recommendation for the music lovers. This song is a complete “GET OUT”.
5.Kona Kona Dil Ka – Singer: Devaki Pandit; Lyrics: Sandeep Nath
It’s a beautiful soft ghazal-type composition with beautiful vocals of Devaki Pandit. Sandeep shifted a little bit here and raises the level of the soundtrack. Tabla used here is makes it a worth listen as it would heel your body. Sandeep gets full marks for this sweet track. It’s a “WELCOME” song of the album!
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns and it returns with positive words when we compared to it with its prequel in terms of music. Sandeep Chowta though hasn’t delivered the album of his level because he is capable of much more.
The film is releasing on 8th March 2013.
The Final Verdict: NOT A PROBLEM
