It’s a Continuous Thukampatti! (Ghanchakkar – Music Review)

Rajkumar Gupta is back after directing two intense dark serious movies Aamir and No One Killed Jessica with a comedy do not assume it as a normal comedy. It’s a dark comedy, the genre which India doesn’t follow. Experiment is in the soul of him and so is the case of his very own music director Amit Trivedi and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya. They both made a superb combo and are famous for experimenting with the songs.

Music: Amit Trivedi;   Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya;   Music Label: Sony Music

1. Ghanchakkar Babu – Singer: Amit Trivedi

A very innovative track in the sense of music as well as the lyrics. Beautifully written composed and sung. It suits the character of the film and it’s actually written about him. The way Amitabh has written the lyrics is just what he only can write, no one else. Moving on to Amit Trivedi, he is on the top notch these days slowly but steadily becoming youth’s favorite. He composed the song with awesome beats and arrangements. The singing is mindblowing. The way he has given emphasis on words like nikkar, daroga etc. is just amazing. This is the WELCOME song!

2. Lazy Lad – Singer: Richa Sharma

I have to applaud Amitabh for writing the lyrics so wonderfully. He kept in his mind the character of Emraan and Vidya and named lazy lad. This song is gonna be loved by all the wives who are having typical husband in their homes. Amit has given a comic retro feel and Richa has sung it with awesome nasal vocals.

3. Allah Meherbaan – Singer: Divya Kumar

This song has been given a qawwaali touch. It has a catchy tune in the hook line and the lyrics are quite well written. Divya Kumar’s voice perfectly suits this track and it’s a must listen as it is a fun filled track and some nice arrangements.

4. Jholu Ram – Singer: Altaf Raja

This is the song for which everyone has waited because the famous old singer Altaf Raja gave a comeback and it suited him really well. But somehow the tune and the lyrics doesn’t give much attention to the listeners. It does not appeal in any way and today’s youth didn’t accept Altaf Raja. What worth mentioning here is the video of this song. A must watch.

Ghanchakkar was soundtrack which was different to what Amit always does but he didn’t impress that much. Amitabh performed really well. But if you consider the tunes, except the title track, no other song did any kind of magic. Amit has to concentrate on some commercial soundtracks too because Ghanchakkar is a big disappointment from him.

The Final Verdict:  NOT A PROBLEM
