Generally, the first three months are always the weakest for films as well as music. This year was something unique. January started with a bang when all the songs of Yaariyan received great response and were heard on every radio station, television channel, parties and singing and dance competitions. T Series once again proved their multi composer trend to be profitable. Mithoon’s Baarish, Honey Singh’s Paani Paani and Pritam’s ABCD were some of the huge hits witnessed in these three months. But it was Vishal Bharadwaj’s Dedh Ishqiya which actually secured a respectable position in the film music. The songs were pure classical, something that happened after a very long time.

This February was one of the most beautiful months for music. Vishal-Shekhar’s Hasee Toh Phasee had three extraordinary soulful romantic tracks which won every heart and attained their much needed comeback in terms of popularity. Sohail Sen’s Gunday was another musical treat in which Tune Maari Entriyaan became a super hit track and other songs worked too. Debutante Gaurav came with a romantic album Heartless which featured soft melodious singing by Ash King, Arijit Singh, KK and Mohit Chauhan. The last week of February belonged to the two ace composers. AR Rahman with Highway and Pritam with Shaadi Ke Side Effects made the month musically brighter. Patakha Guddi turned out to be another awesome experiment by the maestro which appealed class and mass both. It was one of the most difficult compositions by him. Pritam, after R..Rajkumar and Dhoom 3, retained his position on the charts and delivered some masterpieces like Baawla Sa Sapna which found the youngest voice in Bollywood in the form of Diva.

March was also no less in terms of musical creativity. Queen brought back the typical Amit Trivedi and when he delivered the soundtrack, poora India Thumakda. Raghu Dixit came back to Bollywood with his second album Bewakoofiyaan which gave Bollywood a new sound. Soumik Sen made an experienced debut with Gulaab Gang which had pure earthiness and folkness in the songs. Among these, a small but sweet album Lakshmi by Tapas Relia poured beautiful innocence in the songs along with the lyrics by Manoj Yadav. Besides these, there were albums which did well not as a whole but impressed with some songs. Ali Zafar’s Total Siyapaa received nice response for three songs and the most for Palat Meri Jaan. Meet Bros Anjjan with Baby Doll and Chirantan Bhatt with Lori Of Death received applaud in Ragini MMS 2 whereas Shiraz Uppal’s Mere Khuda and Daata Di Diwaani in Youngistaan ans Sneha’s Nissar in Dishkiyaoon were some musical treats for the listeners.
