The J Factor!! (Badlapur – Music Review)

Sachin-Jigar have been impressing all of us since 2012 when they had come up with a creative idea called ABCD – Any Body Can Dance. After that, they just constantly kept on improving and moving towards excellence. Their latest Happy Ending had terrific music and now Badlapur to everybody seemed very promising from the promos.

Music: Sachin-Jigar;  Lyrics: Priya Saraiya;  Additional Lyrics: Dinesh Vijan;  Music Label: Eros Music

1. Jee Karda / Jee Karda (Rock Version) – Singer: Divya Kumar – This track clearly symbolizes the creativity which the duo has. They have fantastically fused Guitars and Shehnai and perfectly utilized Divya Kumar’s hard hitting vocals which inspite of all the loudness sound good to ears. Aj mera jee karda is a very popular Punajbi folk phrase which has already been used several times but not in this unique way for sure. The original itself is very intriguing with a brilliant engaging tune, the Rock version is an amplifier of all the sounds used in the original in addition to a terrific Harmonium played in between all the heavy Guitars. You can’t praise them enough for this!!

2. Jeena Jeena – Singer: Atif Aslam – Sachin-Jigar know the best how to utilize Atif Aslam’s vocals. The duo is famous for using heavy techno sounds but surprisingly without even having a different unplugged version of that, they have kept the arrangements very cool, not allowing a single digital beat to interfere, using simplistic Flute and Guitar and spreading the wonderful Acoustic atmosphere with that. The tune is typical Sachin-Jigar type with typical Priya waali lyrics yet it is so beautifully composed, sung and arranged that it doesn’t sound like a repeated work. People are simply gonna love this!

3. Judaai – Singers: Rekha Bhardwaj, Arijit Singh – One more Jheeni Re Jheeni that Sachin-Jigar had worked on was from Issaq that was a marvelous composition and this one is not less in any way. The duo has used Rekha Bhardwaj in a never-heard-before avatar which engages you right from the beginning. Sarangi is intelligently blended with Rekha’s portion and Arijit impresses in the very first moment. This is again a very very experimental attempt from the duo and again a very successful one which doesn’t only impress but also express. Soulful experiment.

Sachin-Jigar’s another move towards excellence. An album very low in quantity but extremely high in quality.
