Romeo V/S Juliet – Music Review (Bengali)

As the name sounds, it’s a Rom-Com directed by Ashok Patil starring Ankush Hazra and Mahiya Mahi. It is a remake of a Punjabi film Singh vs Kaur. Two songs are composed by Akaash and three by Savvy. Romeo vs Juliet Bengali Movie

1. Bekheyali Mone – Singer: Shadaab Hashmi;  Music: Savvy;  Lyrics: Riddhi

The first line of the song resembles Suno Na Sangemarmar (Youngistaan) and the very next line resembles a line of Kabhi Jo Badal Barse (Jackpot). The rest of the whole song constantly makes you feel as if you have heard it somewhere. The chorus part is definitely been composed earlier. Shadaab also slightly resembles Arijit. It’s like listening to a remake of some repeated Bollywood stuff.

2. Romeo Juliet – Singer: Akaash;  Music: Akaash;  Lyrics: Priyo Chattopadhyay

A poorly composed and arranged club song which stops appealing from the very first minute. This so-called title track has nothing but cliche beats and three antaras which weren’t needed at all. Akaash’s singing also has no magic to attend the listeners. A poor attempt of a club song.

3. Mahiya Mahiya – Singer: Arindam Chatterjee;  Music: Savvy;  Lyrics: Savvy

Not anything great but atleast Savvy is original in this track with Arindam singing effectively though much of his efforts are not being utilized well by the composer, keeping the beats aggressive enough to let the emotions vanish from the song. An ordinary one!

4. Sohag Chand Badoni – Singer: Akaash;  Music: Akaash;  Lyrics: Priyo Chattopadhyay

The tempo does energize you but not to the extent that it keeps you energized for a long time. Composition being ordinary, makes the song dull very soon. Akaash’s dynamic singing does impress but it has its own limitations. Mixing has been done badly enough to lift up your attention from it. Dance if you can!

5. Saiyaan – Singers: Zubeen Garg, Akriti Kakad;  Music: Savvy;  Lyrics: Prosen

Everything in this song is likable. From Zubeen’s power-packed singing, Akriti’s effective vocals, intelligently played Sarod, lovable arrangements with applauding rhythm, everything is worth a listen. Savvy ends the album on a very impressive note!!  #WelcomeSong

Akaash spoils the mood, Savvy saves the album, ending it on an impressive note!
